TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Open Doubles

Open Doubles will follow a two-stage tournament structure. Stage 1 will be the ACL Rounders format. This is a Progressive Round Robin format where all teams are put in a pool. 4+ rounds will be played by each team. The first-round opponents will be randomly chosen. For each round after the first, players will be matched up against another team with the same or similar record. 1-0 teams will play 1-0 teams. 3-1 teams will play 3-1 teams, or similar.

After the final round, teams will be divided into 2 or 3 ‘Tiers’ (depending on the number of total teams) based on the Rounders results. Tier 1 is the highest, followed by Tier 2 and Tier 3 (if applicable). Each Tier will compete in a separate double elimination tournament.

Open Singles

Open Singles will follow a two-stage tournament structure. Stage 1 will be the ACL Rounders format. This is a Progressive Round Robin format where all players are put in a pool.  4+ rounds will be played by each player. The first-round opponents will be randomly chosen. For each round after the first, players will be matched up against another player with the same or similar record. 1-0 players will play another 1-0 player. 3-1 players will play 3-1 players, or similar.

After the final round, players will be divided into 2 or 3 ‘Tiers’ (depending on the number of total players) based on the Rounders results. Tier 1 is the highest, followed by Tier 2 and Tier 3 (if applicable). Each Tier will compete in a separate double elimination tournament.

Open Crew Cup (State teams)

Open Crew Cup will follow a two-stage tournament structure. Stage 1 will follow the ACL Round Robin Format. 4+ rounds will be played by each team, with all match-ups randomly generated.

After the final round, all teams will be seeded into a single elimination tournament to determine the winner. There are no Tiers for the second stage of this event.

What is Crew Cup?

Crew Cup requires 4 players per team, with two players from each team on either side of the board.

Each player gets two bags and alternates throws. Player 1 - 1st and 3rd bag, Player 2 - 2nd and 4th bag. Players 3 and 4 from each team will be at the other end of the court. They will submit the round score, collect the bags, and throw the bags back to the other end of the court (following the same pattern).

EQUIPMENT

The ACL Australia Open will be played on ACL Australia Pro cornhole sets of boards. Players can only use bags that have an ACL ‘Comp’ or ACL ‘Pro’ Stamp.

N1 Cornhole Gear will supply ACL Stamped bags for players that wish to borrow bags for the tournament. There will also be ACL Stamped bags for sale before and during the tournament.
